300 Vario – best in compact tractor test

The trade journal top agrar wanted to know what tractors with a power output of about 100-hp are capable of today and invited leading manufacturers to participate in a tractor comparison. As usual, the results were determined both through use in practice as well as testing. That means that the tractors had to prove themselves in the field as well as on the testing stand at the DLG testing centre. The results of this “Battle of the Compact Tractors” have been published in the current November issue of top agrar: the 310 Vario Fendt proved its capabilities and, with an overall score of 1.9 on a scale from 1 to 6, where 1 is best, was named the best in the test.

“The engine, transmission, driving comfort and PTO all received excellent marks. The engine with the four-valve technology was truly economical. Having a continuously variable drive in this class cannot be topped – and it is even very easy to operate,” is written in the overall evaluation.

In the category engine, the 310 Vario received the highest possible score of 1.0. “The Fendt presented itself from its best side on the testing stand: at rated speed, the 84-hp tractor consumed 258 g/kWh, which is significantly lower than average. With 238 g (Ø = 272 g/kWh) at a top power output of 97 hp, the lead was even bigger. A similar picture for average fuel consumption over six measuring points: with 270 g, the fuel consumption of the 310 is almost 9% lower than the group average of 296 g/kWh.”

In the category transmission, the Fendt Vario from the 300 range triumphed with a perfect score of 1.0. Here the extensive experience that Fendt has in transmission design and manufacturing, especially in the area of continuously variable transmission technology, shines through again. The 310 Vario received a top mark of 1.5 for driving comfort and PTO.
