Career in the agricultural equipment industry – job forum at the Agritechnica.
The second to last day at the Agritechnica was the “Young Farmers Day”. On this day, the German Agricultural Society offered interesting forums and events for trainees, students and university graduates in the agricultural industry. At the job forum for management recruits, Richard Hindelang, personnel manager at Fendt and his colleagues from the companies Krone and Lemken as well as the AFC Personnel Consultants, gave the young visitors tips on starting a career. Markus Ebel-Waldmann from the VDL professional association for Agriculture, Nutrition, Environment, moderated the panel discussion.

“We are always looking for motivated university graduates,” said Hindelang in conclusion to a brief introduction of the different corporate areas at Fendt. Whether training, apprenticeship, thesis work for students or direct hire – Fendt offers many opportunities and interesting prospects for a career. Due to the flat hierarchy at Fendt, employees are very quickly given responsibility over their own independent tasks. Decisions can always be made quickly.
The students seized the opportunity to have their questions answered by experts.
The head of the personnel department and the speakers from the participating companies absolutely agreed on one important message: when selecting a job candidate, not only the degree, such as Bachelor or Master are important, but, above all, social competence. “The candidate must fit to the company as a person” was the unanimous core message. Hindelang advised students to make the first contact to the company through apprenticeships or similar programmes. For a successful application, it is especially important to inform oneself well and to convey clearly why one is interested in the company.
