Fendt at the Agritechnica 2009 – expectations clearly exceeded
The Agritechnica 2009 has closed its gates. Fendt is exceptionally pleased with the results of the world's leading agricultural machinery exhibition: some 350,000 visitors viewed the tractors, combines and balers “Made by Fendt” in Hall 9 during the course of the past week.
“The Agritechnica is an important mood barometer for us. Due to the current situation in agriculture and the global financial circumstances, we went to Hanover with subdued expectations. Fortunately, during the many talks we had with customers and sales partners, we recognised that the industry has bottomed out and is starting to recover,” said Peter-Josef Paffen, Vice President and Spokesman for the Fendt Management on the last day of the exhibition, visibly pleased with the course of the show.

Fendt presented its complete line-up – from the 200 V/F/P specialty tractor range with 70 hp to the 936 Vario with 360 hp – on 2,200 square metres within the 7,000-square metre AGCO stand in Hanover. Also included, of course, were the two completely newly developed ranges, the 200 Vario compact all-rounder and the new 800 Vario with up to 280 hp. The new electronics generation from Fendt, the Fendt Variotronic, was seen for the first time at the Agritechnica. “We presented the best product palette in Hanover that we have ever had and thus were ahead of our competitors by a great margin.”

An innovative new product for visitors was exhibited in the Fendt harvesting area: the powerful 492 hp Fendt 9460 X hybrid combine. The line of exhibited machinery was rounded out with a combine from the Fendt C-series as well as a Fendt square and round baler. “The expansion of the harvesting line is a very important strategic task for us. I am therefore especially pleased that, with the introduction of the hybrid combine, we have succeeded in closing a gap in the upper performance segment. The recognition of our products in this segment has clearly risen,” explained Paffen.

The 350,000 visitors to the exhibition stand included some 77,000 international visitors. Under the lead management of the German agricultural machinery industry and the German Agricultural Society (DLG), the Agritechnica is an outstanding platform for us. We were able to carry out many initial talks. We are also particularly pleased that we were able to make several spontaneous sales at the exhibition together with our sales partners,” said Paffen.

“A measure for the success of this year's exhibition is certainly our Fendt Shop. After just a few days, many items had to be reordered. That clearly shows that customers identify themselves with our brand. It is always nice to see the bright eyes of the visitors at the stand,” he added.

The senior management of the AGCO Corporation was also well represented at the Agritechnica, with Martin Richenhagen, President, Chairman and CEO at the top and his colleagues on the executive level. They commented very favourably on the stand design concept, with which the multi-brand strategy of the US corporation was presented in Hanover: in addition to Fendt, as the premium brand of the group, Massey Ferguson, Valtra and Challenger were also represented on the AGCO area.

The premium brand of the group, “Fendt”, also garnered numerous awards at the Agritechnica in Hanover. The Fendt development team accepted a silver medal from the DLG for the first tyre pressure regulation system that is fully integrated in the vehicle concept.

At the awards ceremony for the “Machine of the Year 2009”, the Fendt team was called to the stage four times ¬ all of the Fendt machines introduced at the Agritechnica received awards from the trade journals of the Deutschen Landwirtschaftsverlag: the 200 Vario V/F/P, 200 Vario and 800 Vario ranges as well as the Fendt 9460 X hybrid combine.

The 200 Vario V/F/P also received an additional award at the exhibition. The jury, comprising 20 chief editors of leading European agricultural magazines awarded it the “Tractor of the Year 2010”in the category “Specialty tractors”.

Agricultural equipment dealers, who offer an especially high level of service, are awarded the Shell Service Award at the Agritechnica. Fendt partner companies also received many of these awards: two companies with Fendt machinery in their programme were national winners; three other dealers were named state winners. Furthermore, Fendt was also pleased with one state runner up and three country winners.

The Münster-Hiltrup agricultural publishers and the Landwirtschaft - Industrie, a liaison agency for agriculture and industry, awarded the German Agrar-Marketing Award at the traditional Agritechnica Forum held by the Münster-Hiltrup publishers. The purpose of the competition is to recognise particularly creative and convincing advertising campaigns as well as new impulses in agricultural advertising. The cross-media campaign for the market launch of the 200 Vario V/F/P specialty tractor range received this award.

“All in all, we can say that the exhibition clearly exceeded our expectations. Very important to us, besides a worthy, but not overdone exhibition presence, were personal talks with our customers. This did not go unnoticed by our sales partners and guests, and also caught the eye of our competitors. Our plans for the exhibition succeeded one hundred percent and we are already looking forward to the Agritechnica 2011,” said Paffen in conclusion.
