Fendt News
Asked the question, “Why Fendt?”, Matthias Böddecker, President of the Club answers almost bewildered: “Because Fendt is the Mercedes of tractors.” The certified firewood dealer has been driving Fendt for a long time, and many in his circle of acquaintances also swear by the tractors from the Allgäu. Since the tractor brand with the yellow rims is quite well represented in the Höxter area, the enthusiastic Fendt drivers from this region wanted to display their loyalty to the Fendt brand publicly and founded a Fendt Fan Club five years ago.
“We have the love of Fendt tractors in common”
“Our club is not a real association, we are actually only a private club. We therefore don’t have a charter, and it works out fine that way, because all the members have one thing in common: the love of tractors from Fendt,” explains Böddeker. The club already has some 40 members. All club members are affiliated with agriculture: contractors, employees of machinery rings or farmers, who not only drive Fendt for their work, but also like to drive them privately.
The Fendt Fans from the Höxter area now meet regularly and already have organised several trips together. It is no surprise that several visits to the Fendt factory in Marktoberdorf have already been part of their programme. “We have always had a lot of fun there and everybody had a good time. Our next visit to the Allgäu is already planned for October of this year.”
One of the most recent big events organised by the Fendt Fan Club was a rally. Some 40 members of the club plus their children and wives went on a day trip together in their Fendts. The 50-kilometre long trip went from Ottenhausen to Sandebeck. The members of the Fendt Fan Club caused a sensation with their tractor excursion. Well, when was the last time you saw such a large Fendt convoy?
The green convoy continues to roll
During the trip, a stop was made in Leopoldstadt, to visit a contractor, who is also a member of the club. Since he couldn’t participate in the rally because he had to work, the whole convoy decided on the spot to visit his business and take a break there.
The highlight of the trip was a visit to the Vinsebeck Castle. The Fendt Fans took a tour of the castle, which was built between 1717 and 1720. Then the green convoy rolled out of the castle grounds and the trip continued.
Only “real” Fendt tractors are allowed
The Fendt Fan Club may not be a chartered club, but certain rules must still be kept by the members, namely, only “real” Fendt tractors are allowed to drive along during a trip. The vice president of the club, Thomas Scherer, experienced this himself. The flatbed on one of his three tool carriers needed repainting. So, one Saturday he let his kids paint it. But, unfortunately, he didn’t give then the right colour paint – it wasn’t a true Fendt green. So that is why he was only allowed to drive two of his tool carriers during the big rally. In the meantime, the wrong colour has been sanded off and the flatbed has been painted genuine Fendt green. Now the tractor can drive along on the next trip.
