Press releases
With the introduction of the new 800 Vario, Fendt presents a completely newly developed, ground-breaking electronics concept, the Fendt Vari-otronic. The new terminal, available in two different versions, features user-friendly menus with a flat menu hierarchy and practical touch technology. For the first time, the tractor controls, ISO bus implement control, VarioGuide automatic steering and VarioDoc documentation have been consolidated in the terminal and can be operated using the same operating logic.
Fendt Variotronic – 100 percent Fendt
The new Fendt Variotronic is a one hundred percent Fendt development and therefore stands for maximum safety, reliability and quality. Customer de-mands regarding controls and electronics have increased significantly. On the one hand, customers demand more setting options and functions, on the other hand, they also want easy-to-use controls. Fendt has succeeded in meeting both of these seemingly contrary requirements. Due to the different areas of application of a tractor, Fendt offers the new terminal in two versions: the 7" Varioterminal and the large 10.4" Varioterminal. Both terminals have the same operating logic.
Everything in view on the way ahead
The new terminal is integrated in the multi-function armrest, which guarantees higher operating comfort and prevents relative movements between the operator and the terminal. The new terminal can be operated via touchscreen or using keys and a rotary control. Operators can decide for themselves, how they would like to make the settings: fast and intuitive via touchscreen or us-ing the keys and rotary control when driving on uneven ground or when fin-gers are dirty.
The large 10.4" Varioterminal contains the tractor controls for the Variotronic implement control, the new VarioGuide automatic steering system, the VarioDoc documentation system and an electronic Operating Manual for the first time, and offers a flat menu hierarchy and unified operating logic. It is also possible to display up to two camera images as an aid in reversing or for monitoring implements.
The flat menu hierarchy is evident in the small number of terminal pages, despite more functions. The display area has been more than tripled in the 10.4 inch screen and permits the simultaneous display of up to four applica-tions. The high-resolution screen and automatic brightness control guarantee optimum display under all visibility conditions.
VarioGuide – Always on the right track
The new VarioGuide automatic steering system was also 100 percent devel-oped by Fendt engineers and is completely integrated in the new terminal. In addition to the American GPS satellites, the system also uses the Russian GLONASS satellite system and is ready for the use of the planned European Galileo systems. That greatly improves signal availability.
In addition to the functions that the previous AutoGuide system had, the new automatic steering system enables automated turning at the headland, the headland management is activated at exactly the right point. Operators no longer need to intervene in the process.
With VarioGuide, the well-known OmniStar correction service and a mobile reference station with a range of up to five kilometres can be used even faster and more reliably. Other signal correction services are also available: a fixed RTK station with a transmitting power of up to 30 kilometres as well as NTRIP for the reception of correction signals via the mobile communications network. That significantly increases the reliability of the signal quality in all accuracy levels.
Fendt Vario-Doc – the professional farm management system
Documentation is the most important basis for farm management for agricul-tural businesses. Furthermore, legal regulations such as Cross Compliance stipulate data recording. Since VarioDoc is integrated in the Varioterminal, data can be recorded and documented quickly.
Convenient data exchange via Bluetooth guarantees secure transfer of data. The jobs are stored in the terminal until the exchange has been completely finished.
VarioDoc is compatible with field records from BASF, Helm and now also with those from agrocom and Landata Eurosoft. Thus Fendt is the first agri-cultural equipment manufacturer to offer a documentation system that is compatible with different field record systems. Since communication is based on the ISOXML standard, exchange with other software manufacturers will be possible in the future.
In a higher equipment level (VarioDoc Pro), VarioDoc can also be equipped with GPS position recording as well as long-distance data transfer via the mobile communications network.
