Advantages of two systems combined

Fendt will reveal the new 496-hp hybrid combine 9460 X with HyPer-forma technology at the Agritechnica 2009 which will be available for the 2011 harvest. The newly developed HyPerforma threshing and separating system combines the conventional three-cylinder threshing system with a highly efficient twin rotor separation set up. The new Venturi cleaning system developed to process the higher output from the new threshing and separating system is highly efficient and uses no more power than a conventional system for exceptional throughput.. The Fendt hybrid combine is powered by a new 7-cylinder engine with SCR ( Selective Catalytic reduction) technology from AGCO SISU Power.

This new combine has been designed for professional farming business with an emphasis on higher output and lower costs of production per tonne.

HyPerforma technology guarantees highly efficient threshing

The Fendt X-series is equipped with a 9.2m PowerFlow header well known for its higher crop flow in all conditions. The PowerFlow belts deliver the crop from the Schumacher knife uniformly head first through the elevator into the three-cylinder threshing system, which is the start of the enhanced throughput.

The HyPerforma Threshing and Separation technology is a clever combination of conventional threshing and Rotary separation , Fendt engineers have used the AGCO heritage of Rotary expertise to further increase output with the new rotors. It’s a winning combination.

Successfully used in the conventional P Series the high inertia drum and heavy duty concave has been proven to provide maximum throughput and separation.. Concave performance is further optimised through the wider spacing of the bars towards the rear of the concave. As the combine through-put is higher the concave can be opened to a 40mm clearance allowing further flexibility.

Crop from the main cylinder is passed to the new Rotor Feeder by the rear beater The Rotor Feeder splits the material flow into two streams and guaran-tees a uniform transition into the feed channel of the new high separation ro-tors. This transition is into a very open area with no resistance keeping power consumption to a minimum.

The spirally arranged fingers on the counter-rotating separation rotors distrib-ute the crop material uniformly over the entire length of the rotor, which re-sults in very high separation efficiency. This constant material flow requires less power and therefore less fuel .

The Venturi cleaning system

The HyPerforma threshing and separating system can process up to 80 tonnes of grain per hour. In order to be able to tap this high performance potential, a new powerful cleaning system was required. A system was developed which exploits the Venturi effect, named after the Italian physicist Giovanni Battista Venturi. It guarantees a high output, optimises the air stream, reduces grain losses and increases air flow.

The Venturi plate, located between the two radial fans, creates a low-pressure area, which pulls an additional 10% air volume into the cleaning system.  This permits larger openings in the sieves, which increases output and delivers an  excellent sample. The high dividers between the upper and lower sieves guides the air flow into specific areas so that material flow is guaranteed, even under difficult harvesting conditions..

First combine with SCR technology

A new 7-cylinder engine has been specifically developed for combine opera-tion with a 9.8 l cubic capacity from AGCO SISU Power , key to this is the torque and consistent power delivery along with outstanding fuel economy . The 496-hp engine features exhaust after-treatment with AdBlue. Which means Fendt will offer the first combine with the environmentally-friendly SCR technology.

The exhaust is after-treated with Adblue, a 32.5 percent solution of urea, which converts nitrous oxides NOx into nitrogen and water. With a conver-sion factor of 85 percent, the e3 exhaust technology is the most effective tech-nology available today for reducing nitrogen.
