On Tuesday, 30 June 2009, the dedication ceremony for the new assembly hall was held in Marktoberdorf and the cornerstone for the new final assembly hall M2 was laid down as part of the big Fendt ahead² project. AGCO is investing 172 million euros in the Fendt locations in Marktoberdorf and Bäumenheim for this project and is laying the foundation for an annual production volume of 20,000 tractors.
“The project Fendt ahead² – the largest in the history of Fendt and AGCO – is the best way of securing jobs and locations that we can imagine. We are proud of the confidence that our parent company AGCO has in our brand, our locations and, most of all, in our employees.” With these words, Peter-Josef Paffen, Spokesman for the Fendt Management Board, welcomed the guest to the ceremony, among them the Bavarian State Minister Helmut Brunner, District Administrator Johann Fleschhut as well as the mayor of Marktoberdorf, Werner Himmer.
Martin Richenhagen, Chairman, CEO and President of the AGCO Corporation summed up the reason for the investment with these words: “Fendt is the best horse in the AGCO stable” and handed the key for the new manufacturing hall over to the Fendt management. Helmut Brunner, State Minister for Food, Agriculture and Forestry, delivered congratulations in the name of the Bavarian State Government. “This is a lighthouse project that represents a future-oriented decision.”
The new manufacturing hall, with an area of some 1.5 hectares, is well thought-out in both economical and ecological aspects. An example for this is the energy concept: the hall has a combined intake and exhaust system with waste heat recovery. Due to the high efficiency of the system, no additional energy is required to heat the hall.
After the key was handed over and the hall was blessed by the Reverend Antonia Renner and Chaplain Hagen, the cornerstone for further construction for the Fendt ahead² project, the construction of a new final assembly in an entirely new order of magnitude and a production capacity of 20,000 tractors, was laid down.
